The funeral service for Vivian Scott was 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at First Lutheran Church of Britton. Rev. Terrill Sorensen officiated the service. Burial was at the Britton Cemetery.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church.

Vivian Lucile Wade was born November 4, 1935 in Britton, SD to Wayne and Elma (Borchers) Wade and was the middle child to her four siblings. Growing up she was raised on a farm by Amherst, SD and had a good and loving childhood. She was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Britton. She attended first and second grade in Amherst and then attended Britton Public School and graduated from Britton High School in 1953. Following graduation she attended Northern State Teachers College. After earning her teacher certificate she taught at rural schools for five years.

On August 9, 1957 she married Kenneth Weber and spent two years in Oklahoma while Kenneth was in the service. To this union two children were born, Darcee and Dirk. They were proud and loving parents. She joined First Lutheran Church in Britton in 1957 and was a member for the rest of her life. She was a Sunday school teacher for 16 years and a Girl Scout leader for several years. Kenneth and Vivian worked together in their business where she sold parts and was the bookkeeper. He passed away in 1974 at the age of 38. After his death she closed the implement dealership and worked at the Britton High School for several years.

On June 28, 1976 she married John Scott. They made their home in Britton with their blended family of six children. As a couple they were proud of how their families bonded, especially being a busy time with teenagers. John and Vivian worked and owned the local funeral home for about twenty years and sold it in 1999. John passed away in 2006 and Vivian continued to make her home in Britton. She volunteered at the Senior Center by doing work for a local business and looked forward to the time spent there with friends.

Vivian passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the age of 87.

She is survived by her children and step-children: Drew Scott, Kirby Scott, Darcee (Don Vig) Weber, Dirk (Becky) Weber, Leslie (Susan) Scott and Julie Johnson; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Hoines and sister-in-law, Barbara Wade.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Kenneth Weber and John Scott; granddaughter, Amanda Scott; son-in-law, Luther Johnson; brothers: Duane “Skip” Wade, Orene “Butch” Wade and Henry “Swede” Wade; brother-inlaw, Philip Hoines.
