Virginia Tunheim, 85, of Roslyn, SD, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Strand-Kjorsvig Nursing Home in Roslyn.
Private Family Service will be held.
Virginia Arlene Likness was born on November 28, 1937, to Bennie and Pearl (Opager) Likness. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Langford High School in 1955. After graduating she worked at the Britton Court House in Britton, South Dakota.
She married Elden Tunheim on July 21, 1956. They lived at the Tunheim farm until they bought a farm near Roslyn, South Dakota. They also lived in Georgia while Elden was in the service. Virginia was a member of Falnes Lutheran Church at rural Langford, South Dakota. She belonged to Joy Circle and was vice president of it for many years. In the last 20 years she was a caretaker of her husband, Elden and other people in the area.
Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Strand-Kjorsvig Nursing Home after a short illness.
She is survived by her husband, Elden Tunheim of Roslyn, SD; sons, Dennis Tunheim, Curtis Tunheim, David Tunheim, and Jason Tunheim; two brothers, Virgil (Gail) Likness of Elkhorn, NE and LeRoy (Joicanne) Likness of Belgrade, MT; two sisters, Beverly “Bev” LaMee of Omaha, NE and Sylvia (Max) Burger or Britton, SD; one brother-in-law, Bryce Hook of Aberdeen, SD; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Pearl Likness; one brother Bernell Likness, one sister Carolle Hook, and one brother-in-law, Vernon LaMee.
