The celebration of life for George Kann will be 3:005:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Lake City Municipal.

George Duane Kann, 68, of Britton, passed away on August 4, 2023 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton, SD after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones.

George was born on October 27, 1954 to Kenneth and Opal (Umberger) Kann in Britton. George attended Britton School until he came to the realization of his true passion for farming and ranching on the family farm with his dad.

George was united in marriage to Lisa (Robinson) Wyum on March 25, 1986. Together they had 2 children, Christopher, and Jordan. George was later united in marriage to Marlene (Heitmann) Kann on July 1, 1995. Together they had one child, Logan.

George loved being a rancher and the farm life. He was proud to carry on the legacy that his dad left behind. If he was not out hauling hay, you could find him outside on the farm doing what he loved best which was taking care of his cattle. George loved his grandchildren immensely and showed that love by attending their birthdays, special events, and sport games.

George, when not farming or with family, could be caught driving around in his ranger, whether it was just around the farm checking cattle or on the annual ranger ride that he helped coordinate. You could also catch him gardening, which he loved and would plant one every year including this last spring as well.

George was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Kann, his sister Sandra Ellingson, his brother-in-law Mike Wilhelmi as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.

George is survived by his wife of 28 years Molly Kann of Britton, his mother Opal Kann of Britton, his children Christopher (Merissa) Kann of Lidgerwood, ND, Jordan (Nicholas) Pierson of Redfield, SD and Logan Kann of Britton, SD, his grandchildren Harper, Harlee and Tate, his siblings Debra Wilhelmi of Horace, ND, Gregory Kann of Lakewood, CO, Carol (Melvin) Terry of Burton, MI, Clinton (Lisa) Kann of Britton, and Steven (Shelly) Kann of Langford, an aunt, Audrey Kann of Aberdeen, and many nephews and nieces.

A special thanks to all who cared for him during his fight especially to the Wheatcrest Hills Healtchcare Center, Marshall County Hospital and clinic, Cancer Center in Aberdeen and to the staff of Avera hospice.

Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Molly Kann – 43180 109th St. – Britton, SD 57430.
