Homecoming at Britton-Hecla is scheduled for next week. It will be a full week of sports, team spirit, and fun.
On Monday, coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen will be Monday at the tennis courts. The homecoming court this year is made up of Collin Beaner, Ty Fagerland Andre Herrera, Kaegan Fredrickson, Emma Kraft, and Sterling Mertens.
Besides the crowning of the royalty, spectators can also enjoy a pep rally and the traditional burning of the B-H.
Athletic events during the week include volleyball on Tuesday at Waverly-South Shore and home Thursday against Florence/Henry. The homecoming football game versus Arlington is on Friday at 7 p.m.
Dress up days for grades 6-12 will be: Monday- soccer moms and BBQ dads, Tuesday- ‘anything but a backpack,’ Wednesday- iconic duos/groups, Thursday- decades, Friday- red and white.
For elementary students dress-up days include: Monday-Sports Day (anything sports related), Tuesday-PJ Day, Wednesday-Dress as Your Favorite Person Day (books, movies, or someone you know!), Thursday-Decades Day, Friday-Red and White Day.
The Homecoming parade will take place on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Entries should begin lining up on Fifth Street at the corner of Fifth Street and Ninth Avenue (north of First Lutheran Church) no later than 2:15. Entries should face east. The block north of the Amacher Auditorium and the block north of the playground are reserved. The parade will travel on Main Street from Fifth Street to Vander Horck. It will travel west on Vander Horck to 13th Ave where it will turn North and then disband.
Parade participants will sign the school release waiver as they pass the corner of 5th and Main. Mrs. Jennifer Carlson will have the waivers to sign as entries pass. Questions should be routed to Carlson at the high school.
