The Lady Braves stood at 7-8 heading into a match at Waubay-Summit last night Tuesday. Aberdeen Roncalli comes to town on Thursday and the local netters travel to Groton on Monday.

“Both those games were tough but we saw some really good things from our girls,” said B-H coach Jenna Peters. “Every game we are improving and finding our groove. Our hitters are hitting more and getting more kills thanks to good passes from the back row and good sets from the setters. We are excited for the next few games.”

Sisseton 27-25-25 B-H 25-15-16

Britton-Hecla battled Sisseton in the opening st before falling 27-25 and the hosts went on to earn the sweep.

Emma Kraft had four aces and eight kills to lead the Lady Braves. Sterling Brassfield added nine kills, Tiyanna Schott seven, and Kaegan Fredrickson six as the team pounded 36 kills in the match.

Some big Milbank runs proved to be the undoing of the Britton-Hecla squad as the Bulldogs swept the Lady Braves.

The visitors used some strong net play to jump out to a 15-3 lead in the opening set. B-H was able to cut the margin to 21-15 but couldn’t get any closer. Set two was a back-and-forth battler and tied at 15-15 when Abby Lee came up with a bock and Sterling Brassfield pounded a kill. But Milbank went on a 10-1 run to go up 2-0.

The Lady Braves never really got untracked in the final set. Milbank scored the first seven points and pushed that to 14-3. B-H was never able to cut into that lead.

Fredrickson had three aces and Emma Kraft eight kills to lead the Lady Braves.
