B-H Interpers Third At ECC Contest

B-H Interpers Third At ECC Contest

The Britton-Hecla oral interpretation team continued to rack up successful outings over the last week. The team came home from the Eastern Coteau Conference Contest at the Abbey of the Hills, Marvin, SD, in third place with one section champion last week.

After three preliminary rounds and a final round, Paisley Bray came in first in the poetry division.  Other superior winning finalists included Brynlee Patterson in both oratory and storytelling, Oliver Moeckly and Jerod Nebrida in duo, and Carter Chapin and Faith Small in oratory.

Those earning a superior rating but not breaking into finals included Small in poetry, Ruthie Moeckly and Emily Effling in the serious division, and Charles Schuller and Liam Paxton in duo.  Four competitors finished prelims with excellent plus ratings:  Braydon Casey, Schuller, and Paxton in humorous, and Savannah Angstman in serious readings.

The Great Plains Lutheran team won the tournament with Henry coming in second and the Braves following with third place.

On Monday, the team finished out their regular season with the Arlington Invitational Tournament.  Six other teams joined in the three rounds of competition.

Oliver Moeckly and Jerod Nebrida came home with a Superior Plus medal in duo.  They were the only entry in any category from any school to have three perfect scores.  Brynlee Patterson earned a Superior Plus medal in storytelling.  Paisely Bray's poetry entry just missed enough points for a medal but still earned a Superior Plus ribbon.  The following competitors came home with Superiors:  Charlie Schuller and Liam Paxton in duo, Braydon Casey and Schuller in humorous, Patterson, Carter Chapin, and Faith Small in oratory, and Emily Effling, Ruthie Moeckly, and Savannah Angstman in serious reading. Small's poetry earned an Excellent Plus.

Next up for the team is Districts in Watertown November 1.  The team is coached by Christina Bosse and Gretchen Christenson.
