A Fairytale Christmas on Parade

A Fairytale Christmas on Parade

The Britton Area Chamber of Commerce is planning a Fairytale Christmas on Parade this Saturday with many fun events throughout the day.
Once again, the Parade of Lights, set for 6 p.m., will highlight the day.  Those interested in having an entry in the parade are asked to line up north of the hospital at 5:45 p.m. Contact Julie Zuehlke (605-880-0258) as soon as possible if you’d like to enter a float.
Floats will travel west on 9th Street, north on Main, then west on 8th and go by Wheatcrest Hills. They will then travel east down Vander Horck to Main Street, north on Main and end around the school.
During the morning on Saturday, visit the Britton Public Library for holiday fun. There will be face painting, cookies and cider from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
A special family movie matinee is planned at the Strand Theatre at 2 p.m.  This year’s movie is “The Journey to Bethlehem” and will also be shown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Sunday. No Saturday evening showing.
Santa will be set up at cups on Main Street from 11 am. to 2 p.m. Stop by and grab a photo. Take your own photo with a donation of a non-perishable food item to the Marshall County Food Pantry or professional photos by Georgia D. Photography will be available if you donate five items.
The Missoula Children’s Theater performance of “The Princess and the Pea” will be at 4 p.m. at the Britton Area Event Center. The play will also be performed on Friday at 7 p.m.
Following the play on Saturday, the Lions Club will serve a meal at the Event Center from 5-7 p.m.  Soup, chili, hot dogs, chips and bars are on the menu for a free will donation. Doors will not open for the meal until the performance concludes.
Wrap up your evening at the Community Christmas Program at 7:30 p.m. at the Amacher Auditorium. Come early and enjoy free goodies and then stay to enjoy local entertainers.         Many merchants will also be offering holiday specials and having open houses Sat. and throughout the weekend. Check throughout the paper for more information on those events.
Christmas trees will be on display through Dec. 31 at the Event Center.  Everyone can vote for their favorite tree with Britton Bucks going to the winners.
The Britton Area Chamber of Commerce also has several holiday promotions running through the holiday season. The Holiday Punch Card promotion will run through December 19. Cards are available at participating area businesses. Shop local and fill your punch card to be entered to win $75 in Britton Bucks each week. See the Chamber’s Facebook page for more information and participating businesses.
Each Wednesday in December the Chamber will also have a Facebook post called “Wish List Wednesdays.”  Followers will be asked to share a picture or comment on items on their wish lists at Britton businesses to promote shopping local.  A person who posts will receive Britton Bucks.
The Chamber is again sponsoring the Silver Bell Search.  A bell is hidden somewhere in the community with clues posted weekly on the Chamber Facebook page.  The person finding the bell will receive $150 in Britton Bucks.
For the complete Christmas on Parade schedule, see the ad on the back page.
