Tough Sledding For Lions

The Langford Area boys basketball team had some tough sledding in the past week, dropping decisions to Hitchcock-Tulare, Ipswich, and Estelline-Hendricks.

The Lions, now 0-4, hosted Wilmot last night Tuesday to finish up their pre-Christmas schedule. Coach Brian Schuring’s crew will be back in action at Lemmon on Thursday, Dec. 28.

“The Langford Lions boys basketball team has played some really good teams to start the season,” said Schuring. “We are trying to get better as a team each day in practice and in games. The boys need to take care of the ball better and play better team defense. Our varsity inexperience has been exposed by the teams we have played.”

Caleb Mertz hit a bucket and then added a trey to make it 23-11 at the 5:57 mark, but H-T went on a 22-3 run the rest of the period to lead 4514 at intermission and put the game away.

Mertz had nine points to lead the Lions. Kalen Godel grabbed five rebounds and Ethen Olson had four.
