The Britton-Hecla gymnastics squad won its fourth straight team title last week Tuesday, posting a 132.950 score to outdistance Aberdeen Central and Sisseton.
Coach Angela Grupe’s squad now had a break until a triangular in Huron on Jan. 4.
“We had many good performances and first-time skills,” said Grupe,” and the junior high finally got to compete, and it was a good learning experience. I’m also hoping to have Ava Teveldal back after Christmas break after she has been resting injuries.”
Grupe said the holiday break will be welcomed by her squad as it prepares for a tough January.
“After a few busy weeks completing half of our scheduled meets, it will be nice to have some rest time for our bodies and get back into skill drills and work into executing the final level of skills for the year. We have a much tougher schedule for January and will need to clean up execution to compete at the next level.”
Sterling Mertens led the Lady Braves, winning the uneven bars and balance beam, and placing second in vault and floor exercise on the way to top all-around honors. Abby Lee was second in both bars and all-around.
