The Marshall County Commission met last Tuesday. The meeting was largely reorganizational in purpose. It began with the appointment of the chairman and vice-chair. Matt Schuller was re-elected as chairman and Kevin Jones was reelected as vice.
The group then went over board appointments and expense allowances. See the meeting minutes elsewhere in this week’s paper for updated appointments. 2024 county salaries were also approved with all employees receiving a 4.5% raise. See the meeting minutes this week for full salary information.
Dustin Hofland, Highway Superintendent met with the board to discuss Highway Department business. Hofland reported that they has been working on clearing ice and snow from roads.
Lesleann Palmer, with the Northeast Council of Governments, met with the board to discuss the Hazardous Mitigation Plan renewal for Marshall County. The current plan expires in April 2025 and the renewal can take about nine months. The board approved the agreement with NECOG for Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan assistance. The county’s in-kind match for this agreement is $4,050. Of this, $3,815 has already been met.
In other business, several items were declared surplus, including a copy machine and several phones.
The next commission meeting will be held on Jan. 23.
