At the meetings of both the Langford Area and Britton-Hecla Boards of Education, both groups accepted the resignations of a few of long-time teachers destined for retirement.
Langford Area Board
At the January meeting of the Langford Area Board of Education, the board approved a notable resignation. Middle school science teacher and special education teacher Cheryl Cameron submitted her retirement. Cameron has been in education for 37 years and at Langford Area for 27.
The board set a date for the next school board election. The date will be June 18. The terms of board members Jennifer Gustafson and Cory Cole will expire this year.
Administrative contracts for 2023-24 school year were approved for Superintendent Shad Storley, Principal Mary Hosford, Business Manager Addison Olson and Athletic Director Brett Gibbs.
In administrative reports, Storley noted that they need to make a decision for phase two of the playground project and what equipment they would like to purchase. The superintendent also asked the board to look over sample calendars for the next academic year with the hopes of making a decision at the next board meeting.
The next board meeting will be February 12 at 6 p.m.
Britton-Hecla Board
At the Britton-Hecla Board of Education meeting on Monday night, two seasoned local educator’s put in their notice. Kindergarten teacher Myra Stavick and middle school/high school teacher and Mathcounts coach Gretchen Christenson both submitted resignations, effective at the end of the school year. A resignation was also accepted for Jacob Skogstad as assistant boys basketball coach at the end of the current season
The school board election was sent for June 18. The three-year term of board member Mandy Carlson will be up this year. Election officials were also approved.
The annual board retreat was set for Jan. 22 at Marshall County Healthcare Center. The next board meeting has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 15 at 6:00 p.m.
