Britton-Hecla’s girls basketball team picked up its third win of the season on Saturday, downing Waverly-South Shore 57-33 but fell to Warner on Thursday 51-23.
Coach Terry Nelson’s club stood at 3-8 heading into a home contest with Leola-Frederick last night Tuesday. This week the Lady Braves host Aberdeen Roncalli on Friday (C 5 p.m., JV, varsity to follow), host Tri-State in a twin bill with the boys’ squad on Saturday (C boys noon, JV boys girls 1 p.m., varsity girls, varsity boys to follow), and Sisseton comes to town for a doubleheader on Tuesday (C boys, girls 4 p.m., JV boys, girls 5 p.m., varsity girls, varsity boys to follow).
“We better be ready because it’s only going to get tougher,” said Nelson. “Our focus as we head into the home stretch of the season is to put the ball in the hole and do a better job of shooting free throws. Our passing and ball handling also needs to improve.”
