Karen J. Bruesehoff was born February 10, 1960 in Hopkins, MN to Lloyd and Delrose (Schug) Bruesehoff. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and West Junior High. In 1978 she graduated from Eisenhower High School in Hopkins, MN. Following graduation she began working for Security Insurance Company.

Karen met the love of her life, Wayne Wegleitner, at their good friends, Emily and Rocky’s wedding. It was love at first sight and Karen and Wayne were married on November 24, 1984 in Hopkins, MN. Five days after the wedding they moved to Langford and would call that home for the years to come. They were blessed with a lovely marriage of 39 years and three wonderful children: Kayla (1985), Christopher (1989) and KC (1993).

Throughout the years while the kids were growing up she would help Wayne on the Wegleitner farm, whether it was driving tractor or bringing meals to the field. While helping on the farm she was also keeping busy with the three kids. Once they were all school age she began subbing at the school in Langford. She started off as a sub in the kitchen but that later turned to a full time position, and after a few years she became the food service director. While working for the school she also drove bus for many years.

Karen’s family was very important to her and she cherished all the times together, especially at the cabin on Clear Lake and the family game nights. She enjoyed a game of cribbage and time spent reading. She liked to hunt and fish, and loved a good rummage sale or bargain. Karen had a comforting presence to her - a welcoming smile and a warming laugh that will be missed by all her family and many friends. During her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling with Wayne.

Karen passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her family. She was 63 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne of Langford, SD; her children: Kayla (Ryan) Hastings of Britton, SD, Chris (Mackenzie) Wegleitner of Claremont, SD and KC (Shannon) Wegleitner of Beresford, SD; her grandchildren: Reagan, Shea and Ryatt Hastings, Berklee and Easton Wegleitner, and Aubrey and Tage Wegleitner; her sister, Michelle (Loren) Rode of Mora, MN; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and all her close friends she considered like family.

Preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Nick Korpi; and sister-in-law, Tam Wegleitner.

Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Wayne Wegleitner – PO Box 47 – Langford, SD 57454.
