The funeral service for Dennis Ramsey will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024 at First Lutheran Church of Britton. Rev. Terrill Sorensen will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Britton Cemetery.
A visitation will be 5:007:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Olson Funeral Chapel of Britton.
Dennis Edward Ramsey was born February 4, 1937 to Edward and Gudrun (Lokken) Ramsey in Marvin, SD. The family moved to Britton in 1943. He graduated from Britton High School in 1955.
Later he met Carol Buss and they married on June 28, 1964 in Britton. They made their home there where they raised their three sons, Todd, Kirk and Joey. Carol passed away on January 4, 2022 and Dennis remained in Britton until his passing.
Dennis worked at Thorp Auto until purchasing the Coast to Coast store from his parents and continued to run the business for the next 16 years. He later worked at Sheldahls, Dakotah and drove school bus for 10 years.
Dennis was a member of First Lutheran Church and a member of the Army National Guard of South Dakota from 1959-1965. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. Later in life he loved to golf. He enjoyed time with his family and always looked forward to the Ramsey family reunions.
Dennis passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton, at the age of 87.
He is survived by his sons: Todd Ramsey of Britton, Kirk Ramsey of Britton and Joey Ramsey of West Fargo, ND; his grandchildren: Kali Ramsey of Spearfish, SD, Shanley (Landon) Wolf of Aberdeen, Kyona Ramsey of West Fargo, ND, Lucas Ramsey of West Fargo, ND, and Sahvanna Ramsey of West Fargo, ND; his brother: Terry (Amy) Ramsey of Aberdeen, SD; and his sisters: Janice (Larry) Honeycutt of Lancaster, SC, Karen Moeller of Watertown, SD, Diana Haaland of Aberdeen, SD, Susan Johnson of Florence, SC, Sandra (David) Durfee of Redfield. SD and Anita (David) Nelson of Langford, SD; his sister-in-law, Sharon (Gary) Hardina of Gillette, WY; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Carol; his parents, Edward and Gudrun Ramsey; his sister, Audrey Bernard; his brothers-in-law: Roger Bernard, Dean Haaland and Joe Moeller; and his nephew, Darin Durfee.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be directed to the Wheatcrest Hills – 1311 Vander Horck St. – Britton, SD 57430.
