WILLIAM ‘BILLY’ NORDSTROM

The memorial service for William “Billy” Nordstrom will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Veblen. Rev. Karie Geyer will officiate the service. Inurnment will be at the Veblen Cemetery under the direction of the Olson Funeral Chapel.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the church, concluding with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service.

William Lee Nordstrom was born October 29, 1933 in Veblen to Victor and Hazel (Fagerland) Nordstrom. He went to the 8th grade in Veblen and then began farming with his father for many years. When his father retired he took over the family farm. On July 17th, 1954 he married Dona Hornseth at the Lutheran Church in Veblen by Pastor Meling. They were blessed with three children.

Billy was a hard worker, along with farming his own land he also found time to drive truck for Harvey Nelson. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf for several years. Billy had a green thumb and each year had a large garden. He found great joy in delivering and sharing his produce with many throughout the years. In 2000 he bought a 5th wheel and he and Dona spent sixteen winters in Mesa, AZ. In 2004 they sold their home and lived in the 5th wheel for a few years before moving into an apartment in Veblen. In May 2023 Billy and Dona moved to Countryside Inn Assisted Living in Rosholt.

Billy passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Coteau Des Prairie Healthcare Center at the age of 90.

Billy is survived by his wife, Dona; their three children and three step-children: LaDona (Jerry) Nelson of Veblen, Victor (Audrey) Nordstrom of Fargo, ND, Laurie (Mike) Haapala of Kent, MN, Pauline Rhoades of Yankton, SD, Cheryl (Ed) Dressler of Bismarck, ND, Marvin (Rhonda) Hornseth of Towanda, KS; sixteen grandchildren and their spouses, 40+ great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Hazel; his two sisters, Violet (George) LaMoureaux and Lorraine (Harold) Tyler; a grandson, Jeremy; step grandson, Justin; and two greatgrand- daughters, Kyla Marie and Sophie Marie.
