The Britton U12 baseball squad played just one doubleheader in the past week and fell to the Aberdeen Smittys 86 and 7-0.

The local squad fell to 10-11 on the season heading into a twin bill at Groton tonight (Wednesday). Thursday Britton plays at Webster, Saturday and Sunday at a tournament in Groton, and on Monday hosts the Sisseton Travel Team.

Britton led the opener against the Smittys 3-2 after four innings but the visitors pushed across two in the fifth and four in the sixth and then weathered a late rally for the win.

Max Suther laced three singles and had an RBI to lead Britton at the plate. Easton Zuehlke doubled and singled, and Levi Mills, Blayden Downs, and Henry Kilker each singled. Liam Peters started on the mound and was relived in the sixth by Suther.

Aberdeen broke open a tight 2-0 contest with five runs in the fourth inning in the nightcap and allowed just three Britton hits. Peters ripped a double and single and Downs rapped a safety. Bowen Micko started on the mound, fanning five in 3 2/3 innings, and was relieved by Mills and Downs.
