Lawrence Thomas Sullivan, Jr., age 87, passed away on June 24, 2024, in Lake City, SD. Larry was born on December 30, 1936, in Gothenburg, NE, he dedicated much of his life to the field of radiology and proudly served as a Navy Corpsman from 1956 to 1959.

Lawrence Thomas Sullivan, Jr., age 87, passed away on June 24, 2024, in Lake City, SD. Larry was born on December 30, 1936, in Gothenburg, NE, he dedicated much of his life to the field of radiology and proudly served as a Navy Corpsman from 1956 to 1959.

Larry’s career in radiology spanned 35 years, culminating as the Chief of Radiology at the Veterans Medical Center in Grand Island, NE. Throughout his career he also held VA positions in Palo Alto and San Francisco, CA, before retiring from the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1992.

“Fishing is not an escape from life, but often a deeper immersion into it.” - Harry Middleton Larry immersed himself in life at every turn. He found joy in hunting and fishing, hobbies that brought him closer to nature and provided lifelong memories with friends and family. Larry loved to share his passions with his children and grandchildren, and they loved learning about and cultivating outdoor family traditions. An avid reader, Larry never met a stranger, making friends wherever he went, and immersing those around him in his storytelling and willingness to share his passion for his hobbies.

Larry loved to travel, and strived to experience fishing, food and fun in every corner of our country. Larry and Sylvia enjoyed spending time together at their lake home in South Dakota and wintering in St. George Island, Florida, taking in the beauty of the Gulf.

“Dad always said, ‘Fishing isn’t about the fish. It’s about the time spent together catching them.’” - Unknown Larry is survived by his wife of 38 years Sylvia (Endicott) Sullivan; children, Patrick (Dianne) Sullivan of Coeur d’Alene, ID; Lawrence Sullivan III (Norma) of Hauser, ID; and daughter Carrie Sullivan of Spokane, WA.

He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Gruber of Cozad, NE; five grandchildren, one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Sullivan (Bean) and Lawrence Thomas Sullivan, Sr.

A private family inurnment will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE.
