25th Annual Harvest Days

    Marking its 25th year, Harvest Days is back this weekend with fun activities over all three days. Events take place Friday through Sunday with many favorites on the schedule, some events back by popular demand and even a few new ones. 
    Friday’s events include free swimming at the pool from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Smith Haygrinding will serve a Community Meal starting at 5 p.m. on Main Street under the big tent.  The big Harvest Days parade, with the theme ‘Fun in the Sun’ will start promptly at 5:15 p.m. (Note the earlier parade time this year). No preregistration is required for the parade. Line up north of the pool before start time. 
    Evening activities include the cornhole tournament at 6 p.m., the dive-in movie at the pool at 9 p.m., and live outdoor music at Snapper’s Dry Bean.
    Saturday activities start with the 19th Annual Road Race and sand volleyball tournament. The Lions will be serving pancakes at the fire hall between 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. The Kid’s Zone will be open for family fun starting at 10 a.m. on Main Street.  The library will have activities from 9 a.m. to noon, and the inflatables will be set up near Ken’s from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
    The medallion hunt is back this year. One clue will be posted per hour starting at 10 a.m. at the main tent on Main Street. The hunt will send searchers looking for a medallion somewhere around town. All ages can participate in this fun activity with the winner receiving Britton Bucks.
    A Sidewalk Chalk Competition will also start with registration at 10 a.m. on Main Street. Individuals and groups will have until noon to create chalk masterpieces with awards being given in various categories. There is no entry fee and chalk is provided. 
    The Vendor Fair and Craft Show will be held in the school lobby from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The jigsaw puzzle contest will take place at First Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. There will be more free swimming at the pool Saturday afternoon with the coin dive at 1:30 p.m. and a free family movie showing at the theatre at 2 p.m. 
    Later in the day, the car show will be back. Local band Danger Zone plays live on Main from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The rib cook off is also back in the evening. People can enjoy ribs for $2 apiece on Main Street. Saturday night’s main event will feature local favorites, The Johnny Holm Band, playing on the street at 8:30. 
    Sunday events wrap up with a community worship service at Pool Park at 10 a.m. All are welcome
