BURGER BATTLE WILL BE TASTY

BURGER BATTLE WILL BE TASTY

The Britton Area Chamber’s Burger Battle is now underway. This new Chamber event is a tasty way to support local businesses.
Earlier this summer, area restaurants were given the chance to join in this contest that asks hungry folks to try burgers from all the participating establishments. It was actually a restauranteur who initiated the idea.
Britton Area Chamber Director Emily Van Lith explains the origin of the battle. “Marc from the Britton Country Club came to us with the idea of a burger battle,” she said. “We thought it was a great idea to promote local businesses.”
As the idea gathered steam, organizers thought of ways to make the contest not only fun but also beneficial to the community. It was decided that the $100 entry fee, after expenses, would go to support the Marshall County Food Pantry.
Five restaurants from Britton and surrounding towns decided to throw their burger in the ring for the battle. In Britton, the Country Club, the VFW and Full Circle C-store are all taking part. Additionally, Farmer’s Inn and Café in Havana and Remedy’s in Langford are competing.
The concept is simple. Go to each place and order their featured battle burger. Afterwards, you can vote on EACH burger on a 1-10 basis. Considerations include flavor, patty, toppings, bun and presentation. To vote, use the QR code on the flyer (available at the restaurants or on the Chamber’s Facebook page) or go to https://forms.gle/s8iVQ5xhMGYSngoK6. Only vote on each burger ONCE.
The winner will be awarded a traveling trophy.
Featured Burgers
The Britton Country Club’s offering is “The New Orleans.” It features a Wagyu beef patty, smoked sausage, pecan smoked shoulder bacon, marinated butterfly shrimp, cheddar and Boursin cheese, lettuce and tomato topped with remoulade sauce on a grilled kaiser bun.
The Britton VFW will feature the “Dirty Burger.” It is a burger with Swiss cheese, bacon, jalapenos, lettuce, ‘dirty’ sauce (house-made bleu cheese dressing and buffalo sauce) served on an artisan bun.
Full Circle Ag’s C-store in Britton will serve up their “Good Old-Fashioned Burger” which includes a five-ounce patty with tomatoes, lettuce, onions and special sauce.
Farmer’s Inn and Café in Havana is also taking part in the battle. They are serving “The Farmer’s K.I.S.S. Burger.” It features a 1/3-pound burger with Havarti cheese, honey bourbon bacon, BBQ smoked bread and butter pickles, topped with green chili aioli on a toasted French roll.
Remedy’s contest entry, the “Disco Burger” is a combination of Canadian poutine, American disco fries and a tasty hamburger. This includes a 1/3 lb locally sourced, Remedy’s house seasoned all-beef patty, topped with Swiss cheese, hash browns, cheese curds and smothered in their home-made brown gravy.
“We hope our community rallies around these businesses and makes a trip to each of them to taste their hard work,” emphasized Van Lith. “All of the burgers look amazing and sound delicious. May the best burger win!”
