HOT HARVEST DAYS WAS FUN IN THE SUN
The folks from Norstar Credit Union were ready for the beach on their Harvest Days parade float.

Britton’s 25th Annual Harvest Days was a success again this year. The conditions may have verged on sweltering at 90 degrees both Friday and Saturday, but it didn’t stop people from coming out.
The weekend started off with the parade on Friday evening. The theme was Fun in the Sun and folks decked out vehicles, floats,  and even horses to make for a festive affair. Hundreds of people also enjoyed a meal sponsored by Smith Haygrinding with proceeds going to the Pass It On For Trevor Foundation as well as both Marshall County schools.
The cornhole tournament attracted a whopping 56 teams. There were two divisions: competitive and social. Placers in the competitive division included 1st place: Johnny German, Billy Canku; 2nd Place: Aaron Micko, Thomas Lee; 3rd Place: Todd Shirley, Levi Christianson. Social bracket placers were 1st Place: Josh Moore, JJ Feyereisen; 2nd Place: Bryce Hawkinson, Jace Rein; and 3rd Place: Joey Pierson, Evan Easthouse.

Eight teams competed in the Harvest Days Jigsaw Puzzle Competition. Two puzzles were completed. One winning team was  Ryan Dellman, Lyndse Dellman, Meghan North, and Dan Dellman. The other winning team was Kalissa Stelzer, Megan Biel, Savanah Person and Erin Collins-Miles.
The medallion hunt was a success again where teams tried to decipher clues to find a prize hidden somewhere in town. The pair of Gabby Taylor and Mia Kilker found the medallion hidden at the old Becky’s Car Wash after five clues.
The 9th Annual Rib Cookoff was again a big hit. The event functions as a fundraiser for Marshall County 4H Archery. Thousands of ribs were enjoyed by the masses. The local team Beautiful Bohemian Barbecue comprised of Tom Shileny and Jenna Nordquist took first place. Trevor Van Tilberg of TVT Barbecue took second. The Kickin’ Ash team took third, made up of Tim and Traci Olson and Brody and Shayla Carlson. Sweet Caroline’s BBQ who has been competing at Harvest Days for six years took the People’s Choice Award.
Despite the heat, there was a good turnout for the car show. Harvest Days wrapped up with a meaningful community worship service on Sunday that brought multiple churches together.
Other weekend activities included the return of the dunk tank, kiddie train, inflatables, the vendor and craft fair, free swimming and the coin dive.
“Our 25th Harvest Days celebration was absolutely amazing!,” said Van Lith. “The amount of people who pitched in to help was fabulous in addition to our sponsors. We could not have asked for a better weekend. It was very warm but we had a great turn out.  Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered!
