MARSHALL COUNTY COMMISSION: First Part Of Courthouse Project Now Out For Bid

    In public comment during Tuesday’s Marshall County Commission meeting, Jerry Burger inquired if there was a final blueprint of the courthouse project. The commission said that the blueprint was not finalized yet.
    Bids are now being advertised for the first part of the project, including concrete and earthwork, asphalt, landscaping and utilities. Bids are due Sept. 5. 
    In highway matters, Highway Superintendent Dustin Hofland noted that the Highway 12 project will start this week. The project involves milling the road as well as narrowing and reshaping it. Bridge inspections are also underway. 
    In other business, two boring permits for Lake Region Electric were approved. The county employees’ COVID policy was rescinded. 
    After a 20 minute executive session, the board voted to deny a request to reconsider an employee’s former request to pay out vacation upon their resignation. 
    In zoning matters, plats were approved for Schlekewy Addition - Lake Township and Bair’s Second Addition - Lake Township. 
    Building permits were accepted for John & Kelly Forman - Lake Township; Haug Trust (Gary Haug) - Miller Township; Zeb Vander Vorst - Weston Township; Sean & Ashley Ogren - Sisseton Township; James & Deanna Stickland - Dumarce Township (variance); Randy Deutsch - Buffalo Township; John & Shelia Sutton - Newport Township.
    Planning & Zoning Director, Erin Collins-Miles, read the first notice for the proposed Zoning Regulations. A copy of the proposed zoning revision is available in its entirety for public review during normal business hours in the offices of Collins-Miles and the County Auditor, Megan Biel. 
    The first reading was held during regular session. The second reading will be held on Sept. 10.
