Film crews from South Dakota Public Broadcasting were in the area last week. They were conducting interviews as they gathered content for an upcoming episode of “Dakota Life.” Britton will be one of several South Dakota towns featured on the SDPB show this season.
For over 25 years, “Dakota Life,” SDPB’s magazine television show, has celebrated all of the stories that make South Dakota unique, one community at a time. Now, with a new framework and a special emphasis on individual towns in each episode, community members are sharing their stories with SDPB staff and producers at community conversations.
Last week, crews visited with area residents and at businesses, including the Strand Theatre, cups and Britton Country Club. They will return for some extra filming in upcoming months as well and had also been on-site at the Buckhorn Rodeo in June to film.
According to Nathan Hofer, the Director of Community Impact for SDPB, they have the premiere of the Britton episode scheduled for Dec. 4 when they will hold a special community screening of it at 7:00 pm at the Strand Theatre. It will air on TV Dec. 12.
Britton is just one of many communities that will be featured on this season of “Dakota Life.” Other towns on the schedule include McLaughlin, Garretson, Burke, Pine Ridge, Box Elder, Faith, Wessington Springs, and Elk Point.
