The Langford Area volleyball squad opened its season on the right foot by sweeping Waverly-South Shore in front of its home fans last Tuesday.
The Lady Lions dominated all three sets 25-11, 25-11, 25-16. This week Coach Susan Larson’s team traveled to Leola-Frederick last night Tuesday, hosts Northwestern on Thursday, participates in a tournament at Estelline on Saturday, and travels to Aberdeen Christian Tuesday.
“Getting a win right out of the gate was fantastic,” said Larson. “I thought we served very consistently and our defense really stepped up. I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly both the JV and varsity games went. JV had a whole new offense and defense with many new players to the game. Varsity played a new offense with three players not even in their typical positions, due to Eliana Darling being out with an injury. I loved their energy and thought they kept it up for all three sets. We will continue to work on passing and running the offense, and we need to work on out of system plays.”
