Havana Cafe Wins First Burger Battle

Havana Cafe Wins First Burger Battle
Havana Farmer’s Inn & Cafe took home the top prize in the Britton Area Chamber’s first ever Burger Battle. Their offering, “The Farmer’s K.I.S.S.” burger, edged out the other four competitors. The entry fees for the contest were donated to the Marshall County Food Pantry.     Last week, the Britton Area Chamber of Commerce announced the winner of the First Annual Burger Battle. Havana Farmer’s Inn & Cafe took home the top prize with their burger, “The Farmer’s K.I.S.S.”
The battle took place throughout the month of August with five area participants. Burger lovers could try each burger and then rate it online. Farmer’s Inn & Cafe just edged out Remedy’s in Langford for the win. Full Circle C-Store, Britton Country Club and the Britton VFW also competed.
“It is fun to look at the comments people left as they voted,” said Chamber Executive Director Emily Van Lith.  “Not only did they comment on the burgers but the service and atmosphere too.”
The folks at the Farmer’s Inn reported they had 34 people order the burger the last night voting was open. They were happy to present a check to the Marshall County Food Pantry on behalf of all the participants and added an additional $100 above their previous donation.
They challenge other area businesses and community members to add to their additional funds. Food Pantry Director Marie Marlow was very appreciative of the donation as the pantry is solely run on donations.
Overall, the Burger Battle was very popular, emphasized Van Lith. “We could not be prouder of the community we live in and the support they show to the Food Pantry. This project was a great way for businesses and community members to come together.”
Van Lith adds that there may be other food challenges in the future. “One person mentioned tacos,” she said. “That would be fun too!  These projects sponsored by the Chamber are really neat because we provide an opportunity for people to visit places they may not normally go to, which in turn creates new regular patrons.  We are proud of our area businesses and all they have to offer, including great service. Thank you to all of our participating businesses and voters.”
