B-H RUNNERS HOST INVITE

B-H RUNNERS HOST INVITE
Britton-Hecla’s Jeris Stark, left, and Livia Knecht competed in the varsity race at the B-H Invitational held last week Tuesday.

The Britton-Hecla cross country team competed in a pair of meets in the past week, hosting its own invitational last week Tuesday and traveling to Webster on Monday.
This week the local runners will be at the Aberdeen Roncalli Invitational in Aberdeen on Thursday and travel to Clear Lake for the Deuel Invite on Monday.
“I think the team ran well in Webster. We had a couple kids better their times.  Our home meet was very hot but also went well.  It’s always fun to be able to run at your home course in front of friends and family.  On Thursday we go to Aberdeen and run at Manor Park. This will be a new course for us so we are trying to get prepared for that.”
Joseph O’Brien is the only boys varsity runner for the Braves and he placed sixth in an 18-runner field on the Britton Country Club course with a clocking of 21:40.03 and was 45th at Webster with a time of 23:40.76.  Two girls are competing in the varsity division with Livia Knecht third in Britton in 25:35.77 and 31st in Webster with a 25:05.83 effort.  Jeris Stark was fourth in Britton at 26:16.14 and 34th in Webster with a time of 25:20.22.
Three girls competed in the junior varsity division in Britton with Avery Leonard finishing eighth in 15:40.90, Ceci Anderson 15th in 16:45.61, and Lillian Boyko 16th in 16:47.71.  Anderson also ran in the JV race in Webster and placed 28th with a 20:21.15 clocking.  Boyko was 12th in Webster in the junior high race in 18:36.94, and Leonard was 19th in 19:31.15.
Teams competing in Britton included Waubay-Summit, Tri-State, Webster Area, Aberdeen Christian, Sargent Central-Lidgerwood-Oakes, Groton Area, Enderlin, and Sisseton.  In the field at Webster were Frederick Area, Deuel, James Valley Christian, Faulkton Area, Florence-Henry, Estelline-Hendricks, Webster Area, Tri-State, Clark-Willow Lake, Potter County, and Warner.
