BH Netters Win Three

Back Home on Tuesday
Britton-Hecla’s Karlie Zuehlke had some power behind this kill attempt as evidenced by her “flying hair.” The junior had 16 kills in the Lady Braves win over Florence-Henry.

Britton-Hecla picked up three wins in five starts in the past week and stood at 12-4 heading into a match with Sisseton last night Tuesday.
Coach Jenna Peter’s club swept Waverly-South Shore last week Tuesday, won in four sets over Florence-Henry on Thursday, and won one of three starts in the Great Plains Lutheran Tournament on Saturday, defeating Tiospa Zina in two straight but losing in straight sets to Great Plains Lutheran and Milbank.
This week the Lady Braves travel to Milbank on Thursday and host Waubay-Summit on Tuesday.
“I would say our offense looked really good in Florence,” said Peters.  “But  Sterling getting hurt was a setback, especially for our defense.  We need to work on fixing a couple spots in our defense and being more consistent with our serves and offense.  I’m excited to play tougher teams the next couple of weeks.  We looked okay at the tournament but our energy wasn’t there, and we need to find a way to stay energetic without Sterling on the floor.”
Brassfield suffered a knee injury (possible hyperextension) and is out indefinitely

BH 25-25-25
Waverly-SS 12-20-13
Britton-Hecla came up with 11 service aces and 37 kills to roll past Waverly-South Shore in straight sets.
Heather Storbakken continued her strong serving effort this season, hitting 23-23 with five aces, and Sterling Brassfield was 14-15 from the line with four aces.  Abby Lee also continued her domination at the net with 22-23 tries and 10 kills.  McKenna Heer added eight kills, Jaelee Grupe six, and Karlie Zuehlke four.  On the defensive front Daynika Zuehlke totaled 20 digs.
Waverly-South Shore battled the Lady Braves on pretty even terms for the first half of each set but then Peters’ squad reeled off some runs to take charge.  B-H led just 13-11 in set one but went on a 12-1 run the rest of the way with Brassfield serving the final seven points and Lee pounding four kills.
In set two the visitors led 15-12 but the Lady Braves outscored the Lady Coyotes 8-1 to lead 20-16.  W-SS cut it to 20-19 but Brassfield, Karlie Zuelhke, and Maddi Micko all had kills and Jaelee Grupe served the final four points for the win.
Set three was a similar scenario.  The set was tied at 11-all before B-H put together a 11-0 run on 10 straight service points by Storbakken to take charge.  Lee hammered four hard kills down the stretch to keep Waverly-South Shore at bay.
