The Langford Area volleyball team split a pair of matches during the past week, sweeping Tiospa Zina last week Tuesday and falling to Ipswich in four sets on Thursday.
Coach Susan Larson’s squad took a 5-12 mark into a match at Faulkton last night Tuesday. Thursday the Lady Lions play Waubay-Summit in Waubay and host Wilmot on Monday.

Tiospa Zina 14-13-20
Langford cruised to a straight set win over Tiospa Zina. Autumn Wegleitner had four aces and six kills, Eliana Darling seven kills, and Alex Darling 26 digs.
“We stayed focused through three good sets,” said Larson. “Eliana continues to have strong net play. She’s valuable to us in the front and back row, and Alex dug up 26 digs. Regan Bruns is out for a couple weeks as she continues to deal with an ankle injury. Brynn Samson has really done a nice job playing the back row for us, and she continues to improve with each game. We had 22 kills and defensively we kept the ball in play. It was nice to get another win. The girls have been playing really well, but when you don’t get the win, it’s hard to see the improvements sometimes.”

LA 15-14-25-20
Langford Area started slow and wasn’t able to dig out of a 2-0 hole. Emily Olson was 22-26 at the net with five kills.
“We were excited about our rematch with Ipswich, but we just couldn’t find our rhythm that night,” noted Larson. “We didn’t attack the ball as aggressively as I would have liked and we had some breakdown in our communication at times. I thought when we won the third set that we were going to turn the game around, but we just couldn’t hold onto the momentum. This group is not afraid of hard work, so we will head back to the gym and get to work.”
