LA NETTERS PICK UP PAIR OF WINS

The Langford Area volleyball squad picked up two wins in three starts in the past week and stands at 8-13 for the season.
Coach Susan Larson’s team battled Faulkton last week Tuesday but lost in straight sets 25-22, 26-24, 25-11, downed Waubay-Summit on Thursday 25-11, 26-24, 28-30, 25-16, and swept Wilmot on Monday 25-9, 25-15, 25-18.  This week the Lady Lions host Great Plains Lutheran on Thursday before getting a nine-day break prior to a Oct. 19 tournament in Miller.
“It was a great night against Wilmot,” said Larson.  “The girls played hard for three sets, they didn't let up.  Lizzie Gustafson had another big night at the net. I'm liking the consistency.”

We were able to regroup and win the fourth set.  Eliana Darling and Gustafson led our attacking and again we were able to successfully implement the back row attack. Defensively we are going for more balls and getting them. The girls have been fun to watch and you can see the growth from game to game.”
Despite the loss, Larson was pleased with her club’s effort against Faulkton.
“We played three aggressive sets in Faulkton but let them get a jump start on us in the third set,” noted Larson.  “We rallied back just a little late to catch up. The first two sets really could have gone either way. We incorporated the back row attack a little more into this match and I believe it was pretty successful. We had pretty even attacks with Eliana Darling, Lizzie Gustafson, and Autumn Wegleitner having five kills each. With some experience, I believe some of our younger players aren’t shying away from the close battle and they are staying more
