Britton-Hecla’s volleyball squad had victory within its grasp in both of its contests in the past week but both matches slipped away as the Lady Braves have now dropped four of its last five matches after getting off to an 11-2 start.
The Lady Braves rolled to a 25-15 opening-set win over Sisseton in their homecoming match last week Tuesday and had opportunities to go up 2-0 in set two but lost a 31-29 decision. Then Sisseton added a couple of close 25-22, 25-23 decision to get the win.
On Thursday Coach Jenna Peters’ club was hoping to avenge a 25-23, 25-20 loss to Milbank in the Great Plains Lutheran Tournament a week earlier and had the Bulldogs in trouble with narrow 26-24, 26-24 wins in the first two sets. But Milbank rallied to post 25-17, 25-15, 15-12 victories for the comeback win.
Britton-Hecla stood at 12-6 heading into a home date with Waubay-Summit (1-14) last night Tuesday. The Lady Braves travel to Aberdeen Roncalli on Thursday and Groton Area comes to town on Monday.
