The Langford Board of Trustees held their regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Langford Community Center, where they passed the first reading of the 2025 budget.
Finance Officer Kaitie Stiegelmeier reported a $70,000 transfer from the Electric Fund to the General Fund. She also presented the completed 2023 audit from Eide Bailly, LLP, and an acceptance letter from the Department of Legislative Audit. Stiegelmeier noted that the state’s per diem rates increased as of Oct. 1, affecting lodging rates in specific locations and raising mileage rates from $0.655 to $0.67 and $0.295 to $0.302 depending on the vehicle. Additionally, no submissions were received for street banner designs, so Stiegelmeier will present vendor-created designs at the November meeting.
The board approved hiring a vendor to crack seal streets for up to $9,000.
Utility Manager Sean Kramer discussed a promotion from Kamstrup for an automatic meter infrastructure (AMI) upgrade, which would allow water meters to be read automatically every three hours. However, the board decided not to pursue the offer. Kramer also noted that Glacial Lakes Excavating will be in town from Oct. 14-18 to repair five curb stops.
In other business, the board approved sharing the cost of fixing a National Electrical Safety Code violation on an overhead service, with the resident providing the electrical panel and the town supplying materials and labor.
The board continued discussions on a possible 2025 street project, focusing on how much of a down payment would come from available cash and certificates of deposit.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12.
