Fort Plans Fun Events For Halloween Fri-Sat

Fort Plans Fun Events For Halloween Fri-Sat

Get ready for a weekend of Halloween excitement at Fort Sisseton Historic State Park with their annual “Haunted Fort” event. This year’s theme, “Fear of the Carnival,” promises to bring plenty of scares and spooky fun on Friday and Saturday.
The haunted maze, a highlight of the weekend, will run from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. both nights. For just $5, guests can test their courage while navigating the carnival-themed maze. Make sure to be in line by 10:45 p.m. for admission into the maze. Additional attractions include firepit rentals, ghost stories by the campfire, hayrack rides, and a Halloween-themed concession stand.
New to this year’s event is a night game of CLUE combined with a scavenger hunt, where participants must find clues and evade the carnival workers for a chance to win prizes.
These evening events are recommended for older children and adults, as the scares are designed to be more intense.
For younger children or those looking for less frightful fun, a family-friendly event will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include trick-or-treating through decorated buildings, craft-making, Halloween stories, and wagon rides. The haunted maze will be open with the lights on, and no live actors jumping out—just animations. The cost is $5 per child, with one adult admission included. Additional adults can enter for $5 each, with all proceeds benefiting restoration projects at Fort Sisseton.
Firepit rentals are available during both events for $40, which includes two bundles of wood and a picnic table. Guests are encouraged to bring food to roast over the fire or pack a picnic to enjoy. Firepit rentals can be booked online or by calling the park. For more information or to reserve firepits, visit Fort Sisseton’s website or call 605-910-4465.
A South Dakota Park Entrance License is required for all vehicles entering the park.
