MC 4-HERS RECOGNIZED FOR YEAR'S ACHIEVEMENTS
Four Marshall County 4-Hers were selected as recipients of the Danforth “I Dare You!” Leadership Award and honored at the 4-H recognition event on Sunday. This year, the award was given to (left to right) Emmett Symens, Emily Effling, Baylee Bender, Kaylee Biel.
Mike Frey (left) received the Friend of 4-H Award at this year’s Marshall County 4-H Recognition Event this past weekend. Hunter Biel (right) was awarded the Outstanding 4-Her Award. Brynlee Patterson was also awarded as Outstanding 4-Her though was not able to attend the event.

    Awards, medals, premiums and other recognitions were handed out to Marshall County 4-Hers in traditional 4-H Clubs members in addition to 4-H Cloverbuds and Pee Wees at the Marshall County 4-H Recognition Event that was held Sunday afternoon at the Marshall County Community Building in Britton.  
    Tammy Bender welcomed all in attendance and thanked everyone for a very successful year, graduating 4-Hers, Hunter Biel and Jayden Bender led everyone in the American and 4-H pledges. 
    Many special awards were conferred. Mike Frey was named this year’s Friend of 4-H for helping in many areas of 4H including judging projects. 
    Receiving Accumulative Medals in Personal Development were Kaylee Biel, Brynlee Patterson and Baylee Bender. Accumulative medals in Agriculture were given to Kaylee Biel, Baylee Bender and Emily Effling. Accumulative Medals in Consumer & Family Sciences  was Emily Effling. The Accumulative Medal in Achievement recipient was Brynlee Patterson.
    Graduating 4-H Members were recognized, including Regan Ringkob (10 year Barn Buddy, 1 year Independent), Brynlee Patterson, 10 year Prairie Pasques, Jayden Bender, 10 year Barn Buddies, Hunter Biel, 10 year Hills & Valley. 
    Jayden Bender was recognized as this year’s Key Award winner. Qualifications for this award include: 4H age 16-19 years old, receive county’s citizenship and leadership medals, attend and participate in three county or state 4H educational events/activities, earn two project medals, participate in their county’s public presentation competition for two years, have held club or county officer positions, write a letter to the editor of their local newspaper on how 4H has impacted their life. 
    Regan Ringkob was the recipient of the Lorne Tilberg Memorial Award. Qualifications for this award include participating in a county 4H public presentation contest, participate in Jr. Leaders activities and must complete their 4H Record Book. She received a $50 cash award, a journal, pen and certificate sponsored by the Tilberg family.
    The Danforth Award, sponsored by Doug Card, editor and owner of the Marshall County Journal, was presented to four 4Her’s this year. Recipients receive a certificate and the ‘I Dare You!’ book by William Danforth and are also now eligible to apply for an ‘I Dare You’ scholarship to attend the AYF Leadership Conference.This year’s Danforth winners were Emmett Symens, Emily Effling, Baylee Bender and Kaylee Biel.
    The outstanding 4Her award was given to two individuals this year. The award of Outstanding 4-Her is chosen by independent judges who evaluate the nominees’ record book, application forms, letter of recommendation and discusses their merits during a personal interview. Nominees must meet several requirements: Have completed three or more years of 4-H Club work, have submitted current year’s 4-H Record book for Judging, have participated in four of the county level youth in action activities during their 4-H career, have received at least two of the following medals – Agriculture, FCS or Personal Development, must have received an Achievement Medal, be active in the 4-H Jr. Leaders organization, and must have completed community service project at the club
level. Winners of this award were Brynlee Patterson and Hunter Biel.
    4-H Leaders were recognized for their years of service Barn Buddies– Tammy Bender – 1 Year Certificate; Hillbillie Hustlers – Kari Feldhaus – 14 years Certificate; Prairie Pasques – JaNann Jones – 22 years Certificate and Darda Schneider 28 years certificate; Hills & Valley – Kimberly Biel – 10 years certificate; Hills & Valley  - Jameson Biel – 10 years certificate; Hills & Valley – Judy Guy – 24 years Certificate; Hill Country Muskrats- Calee Hagen- 2 years Certificate; Hill Country Muskrats- Amanda Nordquist- 2 years Certificate.
