The Britton Area Chamber of Commerce is “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” this Saturday with many fun events throughout the day for their annual Christmas on Parade event.
Once again, the Parade of Lights, set for 6 p.m., will highlight the day. Those interested in having an entry in the parade are asked to line up at 5:45 pm north of the school on 5th Street. Floats will travel from the B-H Arena south on Main, then west towards Wheatcrest Hills and may continue to the Event Center. Participants are encouraged to embrace the rockin’ theme for the parade and crank up the tunes.
During the day on Saturday, visit the Prayer Rock Museum for holiday fun. There will be kids craft, cookies and cider from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A special family movie matinee is planned at the Strand Theatre at 2 p.m. This year’s movie is “HITPIG!” and will also be shown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Sunday. No Saturday evening showing.
Santa will be set up at cups on Main Street from 11 am. to 2 p.m. Stop by and grab a photo. Take your own photo with a donation of non-perishable food item to the Marshall County Food Pantry or professional photos by Georgia D. Photography will be available if you donate five items.
The Missoula Children’s Theater performance of “Treasure Island” will be at 4 p.m. at the Britton Area Event Center. The play will also be performed on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Following the play on Saturday, the Lions Club will serve a meal at the Event Center from 5-7 p.m. Soup, chili, hot dogs, chips and bars are on the menu for a free will donation. Doors will not open for the meal until the performance concludes.
Wrap up your evening at the Community Christmas Program at 7 p.m. at the Amacher Auditorium. Come early and enjoy free goodies and then stay to enjoy local entertainers.
Many merchants will also be offering holiday specials and having open houses Saturday and throughout the weekend. Check throughout the paper for more information on those events.
Christmas trees will be on display through Dec. 31 at the Marshall County Healthcare Center. Everyone can vote for their favorite tree with Britton Bucks going to the winners.
The Britton Area Chamber of Commerce also has several holiday promotions running through the holiday season. The Holiday Punch Card promotion will run through December 20. Cards are available at participating area businesses. Shop local and fill your punch card to be entered to win $50 in Britton Bucks each week. See the Chamber’s Facebook page for more information and participating businesses.
Each Wednesday in December the Chamber will also have a Facebook post called “Wish List Wednesdays.” Followers will be asked to share a picture or comment on items on their wish lists at Britton businesses to promote shopping local. A random person who posts will receive Britton Bucks.
The Chamber is again sponsoring the Silver Bell Search. A bell is hidden somewhere in the community with clues posted weekly on the Chamber Facebook page. The person finding the bell will receive $50 in Britton Bucks.
