The Britton-Hecla High School oral interpretation team came home from the State Oral Interpretation Festival in Sturgis with a Team Excellence Plaque for the sixth year in a row - this time after moving up to Class A competition.
Senior Oliver Moeckly led the team by earning two superior medals. He and fellow senior Jerod Nebrida medaled with their duet at state for the second year in a row. Moeckly also earned the top state rating with his oratory.
Junior Paisley Bray was just short of making the award stand with her poetry presen-tation, as was Sophomore Carter Chapin in the storytelling division. Braydon Casey, the other senior on the team, traveled as an alternate.
The coaches, Christina Bosse and Gretchen Christenson, indicated that the competition was fierce this year. “We are extremely proud of the top-notch performances by all the students this season. The graduating seniors will leave a big hole to fill, but there is a large pool of talent in the younger classes, and we are already looking forward to a strong team next year.”
