The Britton-Hecla gymnastics squad posted a season high score of 130.700 to win a triangular at Sisseton on Saturday and finished second in a meet held in Britton last week Monday.
This week Coach Angela Grupe’s squad will host its final home meet with Watertown and Aberdeen Central on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Just 1.55 points separated the three teams at Sisseton on Saturday. Sisseton was just a point back of the Lady Braves at 129.700, and Sisseton was third with a 129.150 total. B-H scored 129.750 points to finish second in their home triangular, finishing behind Aberdeen Central at 133.450.
Abby Lee was an event winner in the Britton triangular, taking the uneven bars title with an 8.30 effort. Marley Sundin was the top all-around junior varsity performer and also won the JV floor exercise in Sisseton.
“We have a tough conference this year and every skill, fall, and tenth of a point will matter as we had into the final few weeks of the regular season,” said Grupe. “We only have a few meets left and will concentrate on execution of what we have and push for the few extras we have been working for in the gym. Our region is loaded and it should be fun to see how far we can push to compete against those teams. We continue to get a few qualifying scores and it’s a nice relief to get some individuals pre-qualified for state prior to the region meet.”
Grupe is also hoping to get freshman Kennady Van Lith back soon from a foot injury that took her out prior to the first meet this season.
