COMMISSION APPROVES GUARANTED MAX PRICE FOR COURTHOUSE PROJECT

COMMISSION APPROVES GUARANTED MAX PRICE FOR COURTHOUSE PROJECT

The Marshall County Commission met Tuesday for its regular meeting, addressing several key topics, including updates on the ongoing courthouse renovation project.
Auditor Megan Biel reported that the commission approved the Bid Package Two Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the project, bringing the total GMP for both parts of the renovation to $8,862,265. This figure, slightly higher than initial estimates, will now be reviewed by the State’s Attorney. Biel clarified that the total includes all aspects of the project except asphalt, certain security measures, and design fees. The project remains on schedule, with the main courthouse set to reopen in July and full completion expected by October.
The board also revisited a public comment policy approved in a prior meeting, amending the time limit for public comments to 30 minutes at the discretion of the chairman.
In other business, the commission approved a bridge inspection resolution authorizing IMEG to conduct inspections in 2025. Upper Crow Creek members joined the Highway Department and IMEG representatives to discuss bridge maintenance priorities and strategies to prevent further deterioration. The Upper Crow Creek team offered advice to assist the county in managing its infrastructure.
Marshall County Ambulance Director Lori Amerman updated the board on ongoing Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training efforts. Several individuals are currently completing the county-led EMT training, though full certification is a lengthy process.
Additionally, the commission signed the Local Emergency Management Performance Grant, approved an abatement on taxes for a property acquired through tax sale, and finalized a contract for GIS and 911 data maintenance.
