Area city board positions will be up for election this spring.
Petitions may be taken out for open positions beginning Friday in most area towns. Those petitions may be obtained at city offices and must be filed with city officials by Friday, Feb. 28. Any elections needed will be held on Tuesday, April 8. Claremont’s petition period is already open and will end Feb. 21.
In Hecla, three 1-year term aldermen positions will expire. Those seats are currently held by Mary Freudenthal, Susan Ravert, and Terry Ulmer.
Other board openings around the area include one position on the Langford Board of Trustees. A two-year spot currently held by Chad Hardy expires.
Three two-year terms for council positions expire this year in Veblen. Those spots are in Wards 1, 2, and 3. Mitchell Samson’s three-year term in Eden also expires this spring.
Other positions up for election include a three-year position in Lake City currently held by Amanda Olson, the three-year term for Pierpont trustee Audrey Johnson expires this spring, as does the three-year Claremont trustee position held by Bob Thompson.
The Britton City Council will have several vacancies to fill, including the positions of Mayor, currently held by Clyde Fredrickson for a two-year term; Ward 1, represented by Cristy Davidson for a two-year term; Ward 2, held by Brian Beck for a two-year term; Ward 3, represented by Shane Storley for a two-year term; and an additional Ward 3 seat, held by Tim Dahme for a one-year term.
Candidates for Britton council can begin circulating petitions on March 1, with the completed petitions due back to City Hall by 5:00 p.m. on March 25, which is slightly later than in other area towns. Any potential elections would be held close to summer.
