The Marshall County Commission held a brief meeting Tuesday morning, addressing highway matters, personnel changes, and equipment purchases.
Highway Superintendent Dustin Hofland informed the commission that he will look into the cost of engineering for a two-mile stretch of County Road 4, west of Kidder. The discussion follows concerns raised by the Hutterite colony regarding rough road conditions in the area.
The commission approved the purchase of a pressure washer for the highway department. Additionally, a correction was noted regarding the purchase price of a tractor discussed at the last meeting. The originally stated price of $32,239 was incorrect, as the final purchase price was $81,096. The misunderstanding stemmed from the final payment of $32,239 plus a buyout price.
Commissioners approved a two-year raise for county employee Tim Holey and hired Jack Baumert as a fill-in deputy for the sheriff’s office. Repairs to the emergency manager’s vehicle were also approved.
Sheriff Sam Swanson provided updates to the commission regarding department matters.
The commission entered a closed executive session for personnel issues. No action was taken following the session.
