MC COMMISION: HWY BIDS AND 'MAIN' ADDRESS CHANGE

MC COMMISION: HWY BIDS AND 'MAIN' ADDRESS CHANGE

The Marshall County Commission met Tuesday to address a range of county matters, including highway department bids, wetland mitigation, and address standardization in Britton.
The commission opened annual bids for highway department materials and services, such as gravel, equipment, and bridge repairs. A full list of winning bids will be published in next week’s minutes.
As part of a bridge improvement project on the North Dakota border, the board approved a payment of $69,440 to Ducks Unlimited for wetland mitigation credits. These credits offset ecological impacts by restoring or enhancing wetlands.
Additionally, the commission approved a purchase order for a blade at a cost of $406,304, which will be paid over seven years.
Erin Collins-Miles, E911 Addressing Administrator, provided an update on changes to addresses on Main in the City of Britton. The current system includes variations such as Main, Main St., Main St. N, and Main Ave. To enhance emergency response accuracy, all addresses will be standardized to “Main Ave.” The numerical addresses will remain the same. The change takes effect immediately, with property and business owners receiving notification letters in the coming days.
The commission also approved two welfare claims for Olson Funeral Chapel, totaling $4,400, a resolution to issue bonds for the courthouse project, and a contract with Day County for inmate housing at a rate of $75 per day. The board held an executive session to discuss personnel matters.
In zoning matters, the board approved the plat for the Williams Family Subdivision in Hickman Township. Building permits were granted to Nathan Schultz in Hamilton Township (along with a variance approval), Steve Streier in Buffalo Township, John Bartkowiak in Veblen Township, Jared White/T-Mobile in Stena Township, and Don Ogren in Sisseton Township.
