Voters in the Langford Area School District approved a $575,000 annual opt-out for seven years in Tuesday’s election. The measure passed with 248 voting ‘yes,’ and 114 voting ‘no.’ See below for the breakdown by precinct.
According to district officials, the opt-out will help cover increasing costs, including salaries, benefits, utilities, transportation, and technology expenses. It will also reduce the district’s reliance on Capital Outlay transfers, which have been used to fill budget gaps in recent years.
The opt-out will take effect for the 2025 tax year, payable in 2026. The tax impact per $100,000 of property valuation will be: Agricultural land – $77.04; Owner-occupied property – $172.41; Other properties – $356.80.
The election results are considered 'unofficial' until canvassed.
