Sargent County 4-H members achieved impressive results at the North Dakota State 4-H Horse Contests held this past weekend. Representing the county in various events, each participant earned recognition for their efforts in horse judging, hippology, public speaking, and quiz bowl competitions.
On Saturday, the Horse Judging and Hippology contests took place. In Horse Judging, Brooklynn Bosse was part of the second-place overall Senior Team, while Lily Mundt placed ninth overall as a Junior individual.
In the Hippology contest, the Junior Team—Alice Hopkins, Laura Delahoyde, and Ella Mundt—placed third in the Team Problem category and fourth overall. The Intermediate Team, comprised of Daphne Bosse, Alison Kottke, and Lily Mundt, placed second overall in the Stations category. Brooklynn Bosse also contributed to the first-place Senior Team in the Hippology contest.
Sunday featured speech and demonstration events, as well as the Quiz Bowl competition. In the Junior Demonstration/Illustrated Talk category, Laura Delahoyde and Alison Kottke placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Daphne Bosse placed fourth in the Junior Speech Contest, and Mia Bopp earned second place in the Senior Illustrated Talk.
In the Junior Quiz Bowl competition, which included 16 participating teams, the Sargent County team of Alison Kottke, Daphne Bosse, Lily Mundt, and Ella Mundt took first place overall after an outstanding performance through multiple rounds.
The team is coached by Jacy Bopp, Julie Hassebroek, and Christine Bopp. The coaches extended their appreciation to the families who attended and supported the participants throughout the weekend.
