The Langford Area FFA Chapter has wrapped up an impressive year marked by strong performances, individual achievements, and a growing presence at the state level. Under the leadership of Miss AnnaMarie Sachs, the program continues to reach new milestones, inspiring members to aim even higher—toward the National FFA Convention and beyond.
Several members earned a trip to State FFA in Brookings April 3-5. Twenty students competed in different contests including Milk Quality, Ag Mechanics, Meats Evaluation, Natural Resources, Floriculture, Horse Evaluation and Vet Science.
The Chapter, advised by Sachs, has been hitting new goals every year. “We had our first team make it on stage and many students placing individually. I hope this motivates students to keep pushing themselves onto their next goal of having a team earn a trip to National Convention. It was truly exhilarating hearing our Langford Area name called so many times throughout the awards ceremony,” states Sachs.
The Milk Quality team made up of four sophomore girls, Alex Darling, Brynn Samson, Brooke Dwight and Lizzie Gustafson have been marking high scores throughout the year and landed in 3rd place out of 43 teams at the state competition. “My favorite part of State FFA this year was having my team be called up on stage to receive our award. Our team’s goal next year is to earn 1st place and take a trip to the National Convention.” stated Alex Darling.
Other teams earning a place at State FFA included the Meats Evaluation team with a 4th place finish, the Natural Resources team with a 22nd place finish and the Floriculture team placing 28th.             Individually the Chapter did well with placings as follows:
Ag Mechanics: Dylan Harmon, 118th, Floriculture: Autumn Wegleitner 78th, Abbie Hoines 105th, Bailey Dwight 111th and Lola Hermes 121st. Horse Evaluation: Breckette Zubke 121st. Meats Evaluation: Rennan Bruns 8th, Regan Bruns, 10th, Hunter Jensen 14th, Caleb Mertz 31st. Milk Quality: Lizzie Gustafson 2nd, Brynn Samson 16th, Brooke Dwight 18th, Alex Darling 27th. Natural Resources: Dane Horter 62nd, Case Reints 81st, Ryker Bruns 89th, Eli Samson 112th. Vet Science: Caroline Bahr 113th.
This past weekend, the Chapter held their annual banquet and closed out another successful year of FFA at Langford Area. During the banquet new officers were chosen for the 2025-2026 year along with four yearly awards.
New officers are President Bradyn Small, Vice President Regan Bruns, Secretary Maddox Nickeson-Brennan, Treasurer Autumn Wegleitner, Reporter Caroline Bahr, Sentinel Dane Horter, Student Advisor Dylan Harmon.
Receiving individual awards this year were Bailey Dwight with the Star Discovery Degree, Maddox Nickeson-Brennan earning the Star Green-Hand award, Regan Bruns earned the Star Chapter Degree, and Rennan Bruns with the Dekalb Award         A new award created this year was the CJ Sachs 4x4 Award. This award has special meaning for the chapter’s advisor. CJ is the late brother of Sachs and was killed in a tractor accident last year. CJ was an active member in FFA, never wanting to be a leader, but always wanting to be a friend and do all the background work that needed to be done. The award is a $250 cash donation for the recipient to use as they choose. This years CJ Sachs 4x4 winner was Rennan Bruns.
