William “Bill” Krafka passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 near Britton, SD.

His arrangements are pending and have been entrusted to the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.

William“Bill”JamesKrafka was born December 30, 1939 in Havana, ND to William H. and Vera (Leach) Krafka. He grew up on a farm in the Havana area. Throughout his education he attended school in Havana and graduated from Havana High School. Upon graduation from high school, Bill enlisted in the US Marine Corp and served his country.

After his discharge from the Marine Corp, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Meredith Kay Rasmussen on July 23, 1961. They moved to Bloomington, MN for a short time. On January 23, 1963 he and Meredith welcomed their son, Robert James. A few years later they moved to Ankeny, IA and called that home for roughly forty years. Following their retirement, they moved back to Havana to be close to family and old friends. Meredith passed away January 9, 2017 and Bill remained in Havana.

Bill loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a competitive skeet shooter. Bill enjoyed playing cards, and would often play cards in Lake City with a good group of friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Meredith; their son, Robert James; his parents, William and Vera; and his sisters-in-law, Janna Rasmussen and Gay (Rasmussen) Kuhn.

He is survived by his brothers- in-law: Kim (Sandy) Rasmussen of Havana, ND and Kurt Rasmussen of Bonita Springs, FL; six nieces and nephews; fourteen great-nieces and nephews and many friends.
