The memorial service for Sandra Ellingson will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church of Britton. Dr. Lance Griese will officiate the service.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023 at the church, concluding with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service.
Sandra Kaye (Kann) Ellingson, 67, of Britton, passed away on March 12, 2023 in Winter Haven, FL with her husband and sister by her side.
Sandra was born November 17, 1955 to Kenneth and Opal (Umberger) Kann in Britton. She attended country school through 4th grade and went on to graduate from Britton High School in 1974. After graduating she lived in Aberdeen a short time before returning to Britton for work.
Sandra met the love of her life, Mark Ellingson of New Effington, and they were married May 19, 1977. They resided in Britton where they raised their four children.
While raising her family Sandra would take a job whenever needed. She ran a daycare out of her home for several years, taking care of many children as if they were her own.
Sandra enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Her green thumb showed, even winning her yard of the year! You could always find her working on some project being very creative and artistic, often repurposing something to make it beautiful. She was a great cook and baker and loved sharing that with her family. She enjoyed fishing, even if it meant getting so excited she fell in the lake to make the catch! Her family was her number one priority, always lending a hand to help. In her later years she enjoyed riding motorcycle with Mark and spending their winters in Florida.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Mark Ellingson of Britton, her mother Opal Kann of Britton, her children Michael (Angela) Ellingson of Sioux Falls, Robert (Amy) Ellingson of Britton, Leslie (Troy) Schreiner of Havana, ND, and Emily Ellingson (Casey Dennert) of Aberdeen, her grandchildren Clara, David, Emma, Graham, and baby girl on the way, her siblings Debra Wilhelmi of Horace, ND, Gregory Kann of Lakewood, CO, George (Molly) Kann of Britton, Carol (Melvin) Terry of Burton, MI, Clinton (Lisa) Kann of Britton, and Steven (Shelly) Kann of Langford, an aunt, Audrey Kann of Aberdeen, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Kann, as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents.
