COUNTY COMMISSION: MC Director Of Equalization Jones Resigns

At the meeting of the Marshall County Commissioners on Tuesday, the board dealt with a number of staffing matters. They accepted the resignation of Director of Equalization Kassi Jones who will be finished May 17.
Four of the deputies who reached their one-year mark with the Sheriff’s Office will get a 25-cent raise, including Drew Freeman, Austin Steiner, Slade Owen, and Ridge Oliver. Dispatcher Sam Sanderson received a 50 cent raise after passing a certification. Darrell Vander Vorst was hired as a part time highway laborer.
In highway business, the board signed the bridge improvement grant allowing the state to go to bid on the bridge project. The various boards of equalization met. See the minutes in next week’s Journal for the full action.
The group voted to supplement and pay out $110,000 to the search and rescue budget to assist purchasing a search and rescue vehicle to be used county wide. This action had been approved previously but the purchase had not been made until now.
In the zoning portion of the meeting, building permits were accepted from Jason & Karen Medhaug - Veblen Township; Jamison Carlson - Wismer Township; Marty Jensen - Victor Township; Dennis Joy - Lake Township; Kurt & Shana Zuehlke - Miller Township.
Ordinance 65 went through its second reading and was approved. This was a rezone request made by Gary Gangle to rezone property from ag to lake front near Roy Lake. Effective date of this ordinance is April 30.
Victor Rapkoch, Marshall County States Attorney, informed of a meeting with FEMA that is in the process of being scheduled to take place on April 23 during the scheduled Commissioner Meeting, or as soon as all parties are available to discuss matters.
