DONNA RAE OBENAUER
The funeral service for Donna Obenauer will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Britton. Rev. Terrill Sorensen will officiate the service. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation will be at the church from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service.
Donna Rae (Mulvenna) Obenauer was born August 27, 1951 to Mona Fae “Irene” (Curfman) and Herbert Mulvenna in Britton, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Britton, SD. She went to grade school at Waverly Township #2 country school through the sixth grade then went to high school in Britton, SD where she graduated high school in Britton in 1972. Following graduation she went to 1 year Business College in Aberdeen. While living in Aberdeen she worked at Ward Hotel and Blue Buffalo Cafe as a waitress. She met her husband Delbert Obenauer at Blue Buffalo Cafe.
On July 9, 1976 she married Delbert Arthur Obenauer at First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, SD. They were blessed with a daughter, Melissa Ann on June 2, 1979. They made their home and farmed on Delbert’s farmstead 20 miles southeast of Ashley, ND in Coldwater Township till 1980. In 1980 to 1992 they made their home and farmed on Donna’s farmstead 9 miles southeast of Britton in Waverly Township. In 1992 moved back to rural Ashley farm 20 miles southeast of Ashley, ND in Coldwater Township. Donna was a housewife and help farm with her husband. They had small grains and beef cattle. They farmed till Delbert’s death on August 23, 2011. After his passing Donna moved to Fargo to be closer to her daughter Melissa.
In 1998-2010 she worked as a CNA in the Ashley Nursing Home. Everyone who came in contact with Donna loved her smile, sense of humor, and laughter. She loved her family, friends, people, and animals. She liked to work with her hands by making crafts. She liked to play cards and games and loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed watching western shows, mystery movies, game shows and listening to country music. Her dogs were very special to her and she loved spending time with them. Donna was a past member of the First Lutheran Church in Britton, SD and Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley, ND.
Donna passed away on March 18, 2024 peacefully and was surrounded by her daughter Melissa Ann in West Fargo, ND.
Donna is survived by daughter Melissa Ann of West Fargo, 2 brothers: Daniel Mulvenna of Leola, SD and Robert (Rosalba) Mulvenna of South Sioux City, NE, 2 sisters: Delores (Merlin) Felt of Wakefield, NE and Carol (Chris) Funk of Culver, OR, several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by husband, parents, grandparents, sister Gloria Mitchell, nieces Lori Felt, Renee (Felt) Schulte, Honorary Casket Bearers family and friends.
