The Britton-Hecla boys basketball squad picked up its first win of the season over Wilmot last week Tuesday before dropping a pair of contests in the past week to Florence-Henry and Waubay-Summit.
Coach Troy Knecht’s squad took a 1-7 mark against Langford Area last night Tuesday. Four doubleheaders with the girls’ team are on tap this week with a Friday contest at Warner, Waverly-South Shore comes to town Saturday afternoon (JV games 1 p.m.), the local cagers travel to Deuel on Monday and Frederick on Tuesday.
Britton-Hecla 62 Wilmot 55
Britton-Hecla exploded for 23 first quarter points to grab a 23-6 lead and then weathered a Wilmot rally to post its first win of the season 62-55.
Wilmot outscored the Braves 18-10 in the second period and 14-7 in the third to cut their 17-point deficit to just two, 40-38, after three periods. But B-H came up with a big 22-point effort in the final quarter to preserve the victory.
BoDell Davdison had a big night for the Braves with 19 points and Ashton Mills added 123, including a trio of threepointers.

Florence-Henry 71 Britton-Hecla 43
Britton-Hecla hung with Florence-Henry for three quarters but was outscored 24-6 in the final 7:30 of the contest.
The Braves started fast with Landon Carlson and Ashton Mills both hitting treys in the opening minutes and BoDell Davidson adding a free toss for a 7-3 advantage. But the visitors reeled off a 15-3 run to lead 18-10 before Davidson converted a three-point play to end the quarter at 18-13.
B-H was within four with just over a minute left in the half before the Falcons hit a pair of hoops to lead 33-25 at intermission. Then Knecht’s crew hit the first four points of the third stanza to cut it back to four again at 33-29.
F-H went on a 14-5 run to grab a 12-point advantage, but the Braves battled right back with three-pointers from Will Schuller and Carlson and trailed just 47-40 early in the fourth quarter. But then the roof fell in as Florence-Henry scored 13 straight to take command 60-40 with 3:42 to play.
Davidson led the Braves with 14 points.

Waubay-Summit 61 Britton-Hecla 24 Britton-Hecla was still within striking range of unbeaten Waubay-Summit at halftime, but the hosts outscored the Braves 35-10 in the final two quarters.
Waubay-Summit, now 100, jumped out to a 14-5 lead after one quarter but led by just 12, 24-16 at intermission. But the Mustangs put together a 16-6 run in the third stanza to take charge.
The Braves struggled in the shooting department with the starting five combining for just 10 of the team’s 24 points. Reserve Ty Fagerland was the top scorer with five counters.
