The Langford Area track squad competed in a pair of meets during the past week and also had two meets cancelled due to bad weather.
Coach Charles Hosford’s crew participated in a meet at Groton last week Tuesday and traveled to Oakes on Thursday. LA was supposed to have competed in Webster on Friday and Milbank on Tuesday but those meets were cancelled.
This week LA will travel to Sioux Falls for the Dakota Relays on Friday and Saturday and compete at Ipswich on Tuesday.
The top 24 state-wide performers in each event will advance to the state meet later this month and currently two Langford Area athletes rank among those top 24.
Kalen Godel stands sixth in the 800 run with a 2:05.46 clocking and also ranks 21st in the 1600 run with a 5:10.31 effort, while Paytyn Marlow is eighth in the 100 dash with a time of 13.10. Skylar Godel currently is in the 25th spot in the 100 dash just .01 of a second out of the 24th position. The boys 800 relay is in the 29th spot, and Kalen Godel is 28th in the long jump.
