The Marshall County Commission held two meetings over the past week. On Friday, the board met with Marshall County Healthcare Center CEO Nick Fosness and CFO Erik Peterson. The hospital officials were seeking approval to purchase an MRI machine. Since the county owns the building, all purchases over $1 million must be approved. The commission okayed the MRI machine, which will cost approximately $1.6 million.
In an executive session on Friday, the board voted to offer the Director of Equalization position to an individual. At Monday’s meeting, it was announced that Katrina Johnson of Britton had accepted that position, agreeing to a salary of $50,000 and a June 3rd start date.
In other personnel matters, Rickie Bohlander submitted her resignation as part-time Deputy Treasurer. Ginger Olson was hired as full-time Deputy Treasurer, and Treasurer Pam Oelkers announced that she would be retiring from her position in November.
Jayden Bender was again hired in State’s Attorney Victor Rapkoch’s office as an intern and RaeAnn Hagenson and Addison Wade were hired to fill in cleaning the courthouse temporarily.
In other commission matters, the board approved the renewal of a malt beverage license for Roy View Country Club.
In zoning business, John Eye’s drainage application for White Township was approved, effective June 18. East River Electric Power Cooperative received approval for a tower modification in Sisseton Township. In Lake Township, variances for Thomas Satrang and Wayne Schlekewy were approved, and Schlekewy’s rezoning proposal, Ordinance No. 66, advanced to a second reading on June 6.
Additionally, the K. Niesen Addition plat in Stena Township was approved. Building permits were accepted for Stuart Eberhart and Brian and Lori Rabenberg in Pleasant Valley Township, Renald and Allison Tank in Lake Township, and Thomas Satrang and Jerae Wire on behalf of East River Electric in Sisseton Township.
Zoning Director Erin Collins-Miles sought the Board’s opinion on an upcoming variance application for Doug and Amy Jo Vietor, scheduled for June 18. For more details, refer to the official Zoning minutes.
