Britton-Hecla Superintendent Steve Benson urged the 27 graduating seniors to be good listeners in the midst of a loud social media and technology-based world as they move ahead.
“Never forget the importance of listening,” urged Benson. “Today, the group that hears you is infinite and what is said cannot be taken back. Take time to think and process things before you act.”
Senior class officers gave the commencement address and recalled memories of the Class of 2024. Officers included President Kaegan Fredrickson, Vice-President Ty Fagerland, Secretary Emma Kraft, and Treasurer Jayden Bender.
High School Principal Carrie James announced honor students, and Board of Education member Troy Knecht presented diplomas. Members of the Britton High School Class of 1974 were in attendance and recognized on the 50th anniversary of their graduation.
The Britton-Hecla Concert Band played the processional and recessional and performed, “Appalachian Sunrise.” The Senior Class sang, “Unwritten.”
17 members of the senior class earned the honor to wear gold cords. Students having achieved a 3.0 GPA and higher are considered honor students. These included: Madalyn Aman, Ty Fagerland, Emily Jensen, Sterling Mertens, Faith Small, and Dawson Treeby. The High Honor student recognized with a 3.5 and above GPA was Collin Beaner. Highest Honor students with 3.7 or higher GPAs included Jocelyn Jones and Nathan Lenius.
Earning a GPA of 4.0 or higher and wearing a gold cord and honor medallion were Jayden Bender, Elizabeth Burger, Kaitlyn Folkman, Kaegan Frederickson, Emma Kraft, Brynlee Patterson, Tiyanna Schott, and Addison Wade. Junior class escorts were Sterling Brassfield, Ella Bray, Dashel Davidson, Mallory Grupe, RaeAnn Hagenson, Oliver Moeckly, Jerod Nebrida, Daniel Person, and Heather Storbakken. Serving as Sophomore Class ushers for the commencement were Corinne Bosse, Paisley Bray, Taryn Kraft, Abigail Lee, Sadie Watson, Jaxon Zuehlke, and Karlie Zuehlke.
The motto of the B-H Senior Class was, “The rest is still unwritten” from Natasha Bedingfield. A red tulip is the class flower, and the class colors were red, white and gold.

Britton-Hecla’s final day of classes was last Thursday.
